When is the application deadline? - The application deadline for our 2022-2023 10-month leadership program
is extended to June 15, 2022. If you are reading this and have missed the
deadline,
please contact our office. We may still consider your application.
How long is the program and when does it start? - The program starts in
September 2022 with a short orientation and 2 day opening retreat. Our regular program days (called
challenge days) are held one Monday a month (9am-5pm) from October 2022 - June 2023. The new Program Overview & Dates
2022-23 is here.
How much does it cost? - The tuition fee for our 10-month leadership
program is $4,250. This fee includes over 93 hours of instruction as well as the
cost of all resource materials and assessment tools, meals and snacks at challenge days.
How many people do you accept each year? - We accept up to 30
participants each year. Participants are selected based on the information provided in their
application and by their two references. Leadership Saskatoon values diversity, and consideration is
given to ensure the chosen candidates represent a variety of sectors, experiences, and backgrounds.
Who is a typical candidate for this program? - We have leaders from all
walks of life and all stages of their careers join us in the program! We try very hard to have
balanced representation from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors within each class
cohort. Our participants include new, aspiring and experienced leaders from large organizations,
government, academic institutions, not-for profit organizations as well as entrepreneurs and
business leaders. Leadership exists in many forms (hint: you don’t have to have direct reports at
work to be a leader!).
How do people fund their tuition to the program? - In a variety of
ways. Most employers support the attendance of their employees either in full or in part. Some
participants self-fund, and others make use of external grant programs to support their tuition
fees.
Where can I find tuition support? - The Government of Saskatchewan and
the Muttart Foundation both offer grants for leadership training. These programs are external to
Leadership Saskatoon and must be applied for separately. If you are considering applying to one of
these grantors for funding do so immediately – their funding goes fast! The CanSask Job Grant is intended for
employers from the private or not-for-profit sectors. The Muttart Leadership Bursary is for individuals from registered charities
working in the field of social services or early childhood education and care.
I am applying for a CanSask job grant to support this training. What information
do I need for my application? - Please email us for more information.
The application form says that the Saskatoon Community Foundation (SCF) provides
a bursary for one candidate each year. How do I apply? - Each year, the SCF provides
funding to Leadership Saskatoon to support tuition for one participant in our 10-month leadership
program. In order to be considered for this bursary, applicants must work in the charitable sector
and clearly demonstrate a history of community involvement. If you are interested in being
considered for this bursary please complete this section of the Leadership Saskatoon application
form.
When is tuition due? - If you are accepted into the Leadership
Saskatoon program, tuition fees are due August 15, 2022.
Is this program delivered in-person? - To be
responsive to the uncertainty posed by the ongoing pandemic, Leadership Saskatoon will continue
to monitor government guidelines. Please note this could mean an online program or a hybrid
program for the Class of 2023.
Is there an attendance requirement? - Yes. The program is highly
experiential, and full attendance and participation is expected. The majority of the program takes
place during regular work hours, so it is important that supervisors/managers of program applicants
are fully aware and prepared to support the time commitment required. Read our attendance
policy.
Do I get a credential? - Participants who successfully complete the
Leadership Saskatoon program receive a certificate of participation from Leadership Saskatoon and
the University of Saskatchewan.
I feel uncertain about applying to the program at this time. What does
submitting an application commit me to? - Everyone is feeling uncertain. We also know
that times of intense change can be a great opportunity to take stock of your opportunities for
growth. Submitting an application commits you to nothing other than an expression of interest in our
program. If you accepted as a candidate, our staff will be in touch about next steps in July 2022.
Don’t be shy, apply!
